Your body submits
Your heart succumbs
So why does your mind resist?

An unexplainable chill ran through your body, hands reaching up to sharply clutch at your arms in an attempt to recover the heat that your body craved and desired. Heading out in to the garden, you stared up at the night sky, something wasn’t right. Something must have happened to Terra.

“Terra. Please stay safe. Wherever you are…”

You cared for the Keyblade wielder more than you could care to admit to anyone. The feelings had been there from when he’d visited your home of Radiant Garden for the first time, saving you from creatures made of pure negative energy. Beings that he called the ‘Unversed’ and since that moment, he’d been on your mind, even briefly taking time out of his journey to visit you.

(y/n)

The voice made your eyes widen, turning on the spot to see a dirty yellow and orange metal suit of armour. The armour was kneeling in front of you, holding on to a brown keyblade with a blue handle. They seemed familiar, the colours looked so similar but you couldn’t work it out. The keyblade was different to the one that Terra used though, was it him? You’d never seen him in this armour after all.

“Who…” You questioned softly, behind the armour was a dark portal of energy, sparking with purples and reds before vanishing. You froze when the armour spoke again, seemingly coming from nowhere but you knew the voice better than anything else.

(y/n)

He was safe. Terra was safe.

“Terra! You’re ok!” Your lips grew in to a bright smile, the same one that appeared whenever you saw Terra walk towards your little item shop. You sold potions and ice creams to the residents of the town, Terra and his friends – Aqua and Ventus, was it? Stopped by to buy items from you. But that didn’t matter; Terra was safe, even if he was in some kind of strange armour.

(y/n), I’m sorry.

The armour rose, stepping around the keyblade as it left it dug in to the ground. You raised an eyebrow, why was Terra not removing the armour? Why was he apologising to you? Terra lowered his helmeted head, almost as if he was ashamed to look at you.

“… Terra?”

(y/n), I can’t see you anymore. This is the last time.

“Why? Terra… I-I…”

My body submitted. My heart succumbed.  But my mind resisted. I couldn’t save my body and this is what’s left.

“You… You’re just… You’re just a shell?” You could hear your voice shaking; this armour was all that was left of Terra? Your beloved Terra? A hand reached up, turning the helmet to face you. A whimper left your lips, tears starting to prick at the corner of your eyes.

A Lingering Will. That’s all I’ll ever be now.

A choked sob left you as you covered your mouth and turned away. You couldn’t bare the thought of Terra never coming to see you again, the sight of him gone forever, and never getting the chance to tell him that you loved him.

“Terra… I… I love you.” You’d never get to say it again. If you were never going to see him, turning back to face him… no, his armour. You breathed in sharply and reached up, pressing your lips against the helmet where his lips would have been. Pretending that the cold, hard metal was actually his warm, soft lips just like you’d imagined. That when you pulled back, those gorgeous deep blue eyes of his were staring down at you.

I’m sorry, (y/n), I’ll fix this, I promise.
Terra's story really makes me cry. I adored him and wished he got a happier ending, so this was born out of my grief.

I'm completely aware that this breaks canon cause Lingering Will can't leave the Keyblade Graveyard, so it's an AU where he could. Briefly.
